Rob Petersen
Ghostwriter, editor, author coach
Sometimes it seems as though I was destined to be a writer, growing up as I did in a house full of books with a mother who taught English literature.
If so, I certainly fought that prospect for a while. After graduating with a BA in English literature and a minor in creative writing, then obtaining a Master’s in culture and communication, I embarked on a journey of discovery that included running an organic food store and teaching yoga in Thailand.
Eventually, I gravitated back toward writing and started picking up gigs doing what I do best. I began working on book-length projects in January 2016, when I was hired by a ghostwriting company. Across almost seven-and-a-half years, I worked on dozens of manuscripts as a ghostwriter, editor, and book coach, helping authors from around the world bring their dream of writing a book to fruition.
Several of the authors I’ve worked with have seen their work featured in publications such as Forbes, Fast Company, Business Insider, the Sydney Morning Herald, and The Australian. Others have used their books to secure prestigious speaking gigs, higher-ticket clients, and even TV slots.
Now, I’m proud to be part of the team at Avocet Media. Hal, the founder, is one of the most experienced and dedicated editors I’ve ever met, with an impeccable eye for quality, both on the page and in his choice of collaborators. If you’re ready to finally write the book you’ve always known is inside you, waiting to get out, I’m here to support you in making that ambition a reality.
Outside of work, I’m lucky enough to make my home on the paradise island of Bali. When not entangled in words, I spend most of my free time reading (naturally), hanging out with the coolest little pupper in the world (Indiana Bones), making the most of Bali’s glorious nature and incredible foodie scene, hitting the gym, and playing padel—a fun, social cross between tennis and squash that’s becoming increasingly popular worldwide. I enjoy writing and performing comic poems, and I’m currently working on my first novel.

“Rob is awesome to work with. He helped me organize my thoughts, anecdotes and notes into a manuscript that hooks the reader. “Rob's contributions to our book, Elevate, were exceptional. Throughout the entire project he displayed an impressive talent for understanding our message and transforming it into a well-structured and seamlessly flowing narrative. He was persistent, adaptable, and willing to challenge ideas when needed—all essential qualities for writing a book over many, many months. He exceeded expectations and demonstrated unwavering commitment that is rare and deeply appreciated. On top of all this, Rob is damn funny and a real pleasure to work with.
